Here he learned how to use many types of tools and machines. Upon entering the 7th grade wood shop class, James was introduced to the use of commercial grade woodworking machinery.
Several years out of high school, James went to work with a friend installing hardwood flooring, who learned the trade from his father. During the next three years, James was introduced to all types and installation methods. He serviced residential, commercial, retail stores, malls, and businesses. He installed solid, engineered, floating, glue down and installations of many types, widths, styles, species, and patterns. He also worked on repairs and replacements.
During this time James came across a magazine that contained a stunning array of custom floors. He observed borders, medallions, exotic species and natural color variations. This opened a whole new world of inspiration for him. At this time, James would come to realize that this would be his calling in life.
In 1992, James decided to venture out on his own and started contracting for several flooring stores for the next three years, still remembering the flooring he saw in that magazine years earlier. James believed his quality of work was excellent, but he was never offered the chance to apply his creative skill during his tenure with these companies.
In 1995, James decided to open his own hardwood flooring company. At this time, he was able to work closely and directly with homeowners who were interested in exploring his custom flooring design ideas. He was determined to utilize his talent then, and has enjoyed his lifetime of creation for homeowners to enjoy.
James believes that if you are going to install a solid hardwood floor that is designed to last a lifetime or longer, why not put in something that you will love for all these years, with your own personal taste and flair.
James is extremely thankful for his father, where it all began and lives on!
